Paseo de los Arcos

This proposal seeks to improve inclusive mobility to the south of the city, on Highway 200, for the benefit of cars and pedestrians, as well as taking advantage of and enhancing the landscape. The aim was to create left turns with piggy bank lanes, bus stops, a 2m wide multimodal walkway next to the sea and eleven viewpoints. From this initial list, it was possible to change the asphalt layer for concrete pavement in half of the projected section, a significant advance on an outstanding debt of more than 30 years.

Our contribution was the urban design both in relation to the exploration of a new route that would allow continuous vehicular flow, for which we developed islands that resolved the left turns, and in relation to the use of the outstanding landscape of the route. To do this, we identified eleven points where the federal zone of the highway joins the maritime zone and that had an important landscape value. In this way, together with a pedestrian walkway and the network of these eleven viewpoints, we were able to propose the possibility of converting the road into a tourist walk.
